Transformations
In September 2014, our film crew followed global leaders to the UN's climate summit, where their urgent testimonies underscored the need for immediate action against impending climate threats. Diverse voices, including Indigenous leaders, President Obama, and renowned scientists, shared insights and solutions.
The journey continued to Norway, where key groups spearheaded climate change policy. Starting at North Cape, the Pilgrimage to Paris collected sacred water from sites along the way, symbolizing environmental hope. Tracking this water's journey, we witnessed the hometown of Honningsvag, facing Arctic drilling, exploring economic and spiritual challenges that reflect the global need for a greener, sustainable planet.
Our ability to achieve a sustainable global economy hinges on understanding trends and taking concerted actions. The United Nations Global Compact's "Pathways To Transformation" offers solutions and opportunities. The Pilgrimage ventured to Hammerfest, Tromso, and Lofoten, areas rich in resources but grappling with extractive industry issues. Bishops and locals engaged in a dialogue about oil drilling, mining, and climate change concerns.
